The department has excellent relationship with other specialties in areas of work needing team effort. Thus for the management of cranial deformities of infancy, there exists an excellent collaboration with Neurosurgery, Pediatrics and the Pediatric Intensive Care Units. /p>
The department’s rich interaction with the Dept. of Orthopedics often makes a significant contribution to the management of acute trauma.
The department has all specialized wards such as NICU, PICU, and a separate ward for children. The department is being managed by a team of pediatric & Neonatal consultants and supported by the senior resident in pediatrics.
NICU is fully equipped with the baby warmers, phototherapy units, pulse oxymeters, neonatal ventilator etc. The unit also provides the coverage to babies at the time of birth in labour room/operation theatre. The unit also runs immunization clinic. PICU is also fully equipped and connected with the central oxygen and suction pipeline system.
Under this specialized branch 1-day-old babies to 14 years old children are being operated under the care of super specialist, Dr. Kishore Panjwani (M CH - Paediatric Surgery). Under this branch following surgeries/procedures are being carried out regularly:
Paediatric Gastro - Intestinal surgery, Hepatobiliary Surgery, Paediatric Urology, Paediatric Thoracic surgery, Paediatric Neuro surgery, Congenital Malformations, and Paediatric Oncology. We are also doing Paediatric Endoscopy such as- Oesophagoscopy, Bronchoscopy Endourology, and Laproscopy.
Pediatric intensive care unit (PICU): The unit incorporates modern equipment for patient care to children aged 1 month to 14 years. Well-trained critical care specialist pediatrician who handles every kind of emergency effectively. Besides, sick infants and children from other hospitals requiring advanced intensive care are escorted by the intensivist and transported in stable condition with adequate support during transit.Department also has preventive services with active promotion of breast feeding and immunization facilities.
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU): The unit provides care for sick and low birth weight newborn babies with multiple medical and surgical problems. It is self sufficient in the management of:
